Update on the Baltimore Bridge Collapse

The collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, caused by the container ship Dali colliding with a support pier on March 26, 2024, continues to impact the region significantly. Recovery efforts are ongoing, with crews dismantling the wreckage and removing debris from the site. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is investigating the incident, having recovered the vessel’s black box, which indicated that the ship lost power shortly before the collision.

Tragically, six workers on the bridge at the time of the collapse are presumed dead, with the bodies of three workers recovered so far. The latest victim identified is 38-year-old Maynor Yasir Suazo-Sandoval. The incident has prompted officials to reexamine the structural integrity of other bridges in the area to prevent future tragedies.

Authorities are coordinating extensive salvage operations to clear the debris and ensure the safety of surrounding structures. Efforts are also being made to support the affected families and the local community as they navigate this difficult time
