$500K Cocaine Cache Discovered in Cotton Candy Truck at Texas Border

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers recently intercepted a semitruck loaded with cotton candy that was concealing nearly $500,000 worth of cocaine. The discovery was made at the World Trade Bridge in Laredo, Texas, according to a press release from the agency.

During a routine inspection, an officer directed the truck for a more thorough secondary examination. It was during this check that trained dogs alerted officers to the presence of narcotics. The search revealed 15 packages hidden within the truck, totaling 37 pounds of cocaine, valued at approximately $496,879 on the street.

“Our frontline officers remain unwavering in their commitment to safeguard our borders,” stated Albert Flores, Director of the Laredo Port of Entry. “This significant seizure is a testament to their dedication and the sophisticated technology we employ. Such actions underscore the critical nature of our border security efforts.”

The Department of Homeland Security has taken over the investigation. As of now, no arrests have been reported in connection with the seizure.
